Wasting food contributes significantly to global pollution: according to the World Organization for International Relations (WOIR), food waste is responsible for 4.8 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere, equal to a water consumption of 180 billion cubic metres.
In addition to the waste of still edible foods, the resources to produce them are also wasted (energy, water, land use, fuel, workforce).
To support SDG 2 (End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture), all businesses can contribute through bank or instrumental donations (e.g. trolleys, bags, vehicles, etc.) for food waste reduction by positively impacting the community and the environment.
