The 2025 Deloitte Global Survey, based on 23,482 responses across 44 countries, reveals that Gen Z and Millennials are redefining what it means to thrive at work.
For them, career success hinges on finding the right balance of well-being, purpose, and financial stability—a “trifecta” that is increasingly hard to achieve in today’s world. These generations prioritize continuous learning, meaningful work, and a strong sense of alignment with their employer’s values.
Many are skeptical of traditional corporate paths, and only a small percentage view leadership roles as their main career goal. Yet they remain highly ambitious and motivated by growth. The report also shows growing concerns over the cost of living, mental health, and environmental sustainability.
Nearly half feel financially insecure, and many are stressed due to long hours, lack of recognition, or toxic workplace culture. Moreover, Gen Z and Millennials are more likely to evaluate a company’s environmental record before joining or buying from them.
For businesses aiming to attract and retain top talent, the message is clear: invest in people, lead with purpose, and create cultures that support growth, inclusion, and transparency.
