ISO is developing its first international standard on net zero, set to launch at COP30 in November 2025. This standard aims to provide clear, verifiable requirements for organizations transitioning to net zero, based on the latest climate science.

Thousands of experts from over 170 countries will collaborate, with a public consultation expected in late 2025. This standard evolves from the ISO Net Zero Guidelines introduced at COP27, offering robust guidance to prevent greenwashing.

The initiative was announced by ISO’s Head of Sustainability during London Climate Action Week, with the British Standards Institution and Colombia’s ICONTEC leading the process.
